<itunes:summary>With Original Cultures' 2011 show, The Formula, under way as of yesterday we're dropping a little promo podcast as part of our Original Cultures Radio series in anticipation of the final showcase that goes down Saturday June 25 in Bologna.

Inspired by some of the themes and sounds behind The Formula, namely the written word which is being used as the basis for the show and the dub elements of both the music and the musical formation, this short promo mix blends together tracks from some of the artists taking part this year - Architeq, Bkun and Hed - alongside classics from Rhythm & Sound, Kode 9 and Spaceape, new tracks from LV and Josh Idehen, Om Unit and Lorn and Australia's finest Dizz1 on a stepping tip.

You can download and/or stream the show below. You can also browse all the podcast archives here on the site, or over here on iTunes directly - where you can also subscribe to the feed.

Alongside this you can also check a recording (Real Audio format) from the Battiti radio show on the Italian radio station Rai Tre, broadcast last Friday and which features Original Cultures' The Formula with some words explaining the project.

Full details of the live shows can be found here and be sure to check the website and Facebook all week for live updates, photos, videos and more as we get ready to take the Arena Orfeonica in Bologna on Saturday.

Tracklist:
Mr Beatnick - Synthetes (Architeq remix) - Don't Be Afraid
Rhythm & Sound with Tikkiman - What A Mistry - Burial Mix
LV & John Idehen - Murky Delights - Keysound Recordings
B.Kun - Primitive Fire - Original Cultures
Darling Farah - Younger - Civil Music
Kode 9 and Spaceape - Sine of the Times - Hyperdub
The Phantom - Artic (Devil Mix) - Forthcoming Senseless
Om Unit x Lorn - Obsidian - Free download
Dizz1 - Gone Soon - Unreleased

Laurent, the organiser with whom I have until now maintained contact via email regarding Original Cultures, will arrive later. My interest in the project comes from an [...]

Today I re-discovered the sandwich world deli in Hornsey. Bangin. Oh and we made some more music! It’s all about the art of stitching ideas together at the moment, that and for me trying to let go of my producer perfectionist ears, I have to remember this is supposed to be fun!
The picture above sums up the day quite well in a way. Like I said yesterday I’ve realised quickly and harshly that getting ten/fifteen people travelling around London without problems isn’t really easy and doing it by public transport only makes it more of a headache. Still though it’s part of the fun and I’m [...]

Photo by Charlie Whatley. So after recovering from my 30th birthday party on Saturday night, I awoke early doors this morning to head up to North London to get to the rehearsal rooms for O.C London. As it turned out the rehearsal space was really a communal space in a converted musician live/work space – [...]
