In 2010 we worked with Italian producer Katzuma on the ‘From Inner Space‘ production. The resulting show involved Katzuma turning his DJ set of classic late 70s, early 80s funk, disco and house into a one-hour live performance with a five-piece band, The Expanding Disco Machine. Since then the band has continued to exist and evolve in different ways, while Katzuma has continued his work as one of Italy’s finest groove purveyors.
Next month we reunite with Katzuma for the second of our Zoooriginal 7″ series. Number 2 features two brand new tracks from Katzuma and French duo Souleance alongside artwork by NYC-based David Ellis. As always this will be a double-sided picture disc 7″ with full colour artwork, see-through plastic sleeve and sticker credits. It will drop early October with pre-orders starting later this month. Vinyl only, no digital.
Having said that, ahead of all this we are releasing the extended version of Katzuma’s track, All Night, digitally. Originally 8 mins long we had to edit it down to 4 mins for the vinyl, but we felt that the original deserved to be heard, shared and played in all its glory drawing as it does from the classic NYC 80s house jams. It is now available to stream and buy for 1E.
Early support from LV and Ashley Beedle.
Full details of Zoooriginals #2 and pre-order links will be online in a few weeks with full release in early October.
PS: You can still purchase Zoooriginals #1 featuring Daisuke Tanabe, Jealousguy and Ericailcane.
Original Cultures and Zooo Print & Press are proud to present the second release in the Zoooriginals series of collaborative, limited-edition picture 7″ vinyl releases.
The concept is simple: Two musicians, one side each. One visual artist, two sides. All exclusive, never before seen or heard. Limited edition 7″ vinyl run. No digital. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Following the series’ debut in November 2012 with Japanese musicians Daisuke Tanabe and Jealousguy and Italian artist Ericailcane, we continue with another international meeting of artistic minds including one Italian, two Frenchmen and an American. The music on #2 is handled by Katzuma – who took part in Original Cultures’ 2010 production From Inner Space – and Souleance – the French duo of Fulgeance and Soulist, with whom we’ve been good friends for a while. The artwork this time is handled by David Ellis, a New York-based artist with a long string of collaborations and works to his name.
The music is house and disco. The artwork is explosive.
