June 2013 marks the first anniversary of the label side of Original Cultures. It’s been an exciting 12 months so far, full of ups and downs and beautiful music – not unlike raising a child we imagine (minus the music perhaps). We’ve had two 12″ releases, one 7″, a cassette and a string of digital releases, remixes and featurings from some of our favourite artists and we’ve got more coming which we’re very excited about.

To celebrate this occasion and to say thank you to everyone who has supported us since embarking on this adventure (that means you) we have decided to release a short, four-track EP from EAN for free/pay what you want. This is available as of right now exclusively from our Bandcamp shop.

Download EAN ‘Don’t You Know’ via Bandcamp.

EAN is our in-house mastering guy. Responsible for all our releases sounding so good, even when you pipe them through shitty laptop speakers. ‘Don’t You Know’ was culled from a batch of tracks he has made over the past couple of years, and which we bugged him to do something about. It’s short and to the point, yet still packs a punch and further showcases the boundless creativity of an artist who has been at it for over ten years – as a musician, producer and engineer – in the process clocking releases and credits on labels such as XL and Brownswood and for artists including The Wolfpeople and Olugbenga (of Metronomy fame) among many others.

Later this year he’ll return to the label with a ‘real’ EP, to be released on digital and a yet-to-be-decided physical format.

Artwork as always by Paper Resistance.
