After carefully honing his craft from the age of 16, it was Daisuke Tanabe’s first EP release in 2006 that brought him to the attention of worldwide tastemakers like Gilles Peterson and Pete Adarkwah.
Since then he has remixed the likes of Elan Mehler and Aaron Jerome, collaborated with Monday Michuru, and released music on labels like Ninja Tune, BBE and Brownswood Recordings.
Taking inspiration from ambient, jazz, folk, reggae, and the entire canon of electronic music, Daisuke Tanabe assembles superbly subtle compositions made up of distinctively miniscule layers of sound.
In 2010 he was one of the chosen attendees for the Red Bull Music Academy in London, where his unique and distinctly Japanese aesthetic was showcased to both professionals and fans during the academy and since then including two appearances at the Sonar festival in 2011, first at the Tokyo edition in April and then at the Barcelona edition in June.
In 2011 Daisuke Tanabe completed a tour of Europe that saw him perform live in the UK, Spain, Germany and Poland. He’s also released on the Project Mooncircle label in Germany, and started work on a collaborative project with fellow Red Bull Music Academy graduate and British producer Kid Kanevil entitled Kid Suke. The project will see light of day in 2012.
