Born in Modica in 1977. His first musical experience is with the V.Bellini di Chiaramonte Gulfi band under the direction of maestro Vito Noto. In 1996, he moves to Bologna where he takes percussion lessons a the Scuola Popolare di Musica Ivan Illich. During those years he frequents workshops and seminars with various renowned international artists including Horacio el Negro Hernandez, Trilok Gurtu, Arto Tunçboyaciyan, Luis Agudo, Airto Moreira, Eduardo Tucci da Silva, Dom Famularo, Mhoamed Akdour. This allows him to further his study of percussion and various musical genres. He majors as a teacher in percussion from the AMM National School di Milano under the direction of Franco Rossi, Luca Turolla and Marco Catinaccio.
He’s worked and played with various artists and bands including La Mas Salsera, Mop Mop, Victor Valdez, Dudu Kwateh, James Thompson, Guglielmo Pagnozzi, Fabrizio Puglisi, Jamal Ouassini, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Roy Paci, Gianluca Petrella, Domenico Caliri, Famoudou Konate, Billy Nankouma Konate, Hadja Sire’ Doumbouya, Giovanni Imparato, Federico Poggipollini, Karamba Mane, Sam Paglia and Deda. He’s performed at various music festivals, most notably Metronome International Festival, Fazz, Crossroads, Clusone Jazz Festival, Carpino Folk Festival, Locomotiv Jazz Festival, Milano Film Festival, Santarcangelo in Jazz, Sicily Jazz Festival, Paradiso Jazz Festival, Afropean Meeteng Festival, Zola Jazz&Wine Festival, Original Cultures ‘From Inner Space’, Jazznotjazz am see (Germany), RDV De L’erdre (France).
He currently teaches afro-latin percussion at Scuola di Musica Popolare Ivan Illich in Bologne and collaborates with Franco Rossi at the AMM National School in Milan.
