Original Cultures Bologna pilot – Audio Documentary pt 2
Following from part 1, all the audio featured in part 2 is taken from a mastered recording of the final showcase, which took place on June 6, 2009 at Spazio Si, Bologna. After 3 days of workshops, the musicians, alongside guest Bruno Briscik, took to the stage for 2 hours. The first hour featured two solo showcases from guest artists Tatsuki (from Japan) and Om Unit (from the UK), while the second hour saw all 3 artists and their guest perform for over an hour a set of tracks they’d written in the previous 3 days.
With the workshop tracks and extracts posted in week 1, you can now hear the final evolution of many of the tracks created during the workshop, and what they ended up sounding like live. Many of the tracks were finalised on the last day of workshops, and some changes made to allow Bruno Briscik to play his cello bass on 4 tracks. Everything that you hear, as with week 1, was created during the week apart from Om Unit’s solo showcase.
As a note, all three musicians had never met before and didn’t actually speak the same languages. In the end, music turned out to be their common language and allowed them to create art despite geographical, linguistical and cultural boundaries.
For more information on each artist please visit their respective bio pages: 2tall / Om Unit (UK), Tatsuki (JP), Tayone (IT).
